Welcome to Year 1 and 2!

Hello and welcome to Miss Landells class. We are a mixed class of Year 1 and Year 2 children. Our day's are very busy covering a wide curriculum. We are a caring and sociable class where we learn to build our independence whilst forming positive relationships with our peers. We work together to learn the wide ranging topics we have planned in our 2 year cycle.  So far this year, we have already learnt about London, the UK and it’s cities, The Gunpowder Plot and are beginning our learning on Christianity. 

Each term our English lessons are based around a key text and we use this to inspire our writing across a range of genres. Each week in Phonics we follow the letters and sounds scheme which helps us to recognise all the sounds and tricky words which help us to read and write.  Later on, in Year 2, we move on to Spelling and Grammar groups which helps us learn about the finer details of English Grammar. In Maths, we follow the White Rose Maths mixed age Scheme of Learning and use Times Tables Rockstars to practice our multiplications.
